Javier, That behavior is on purpose. Press Ctrl-C to hard stop the server. After the first run, James should be unpacked for you to configure as needed.
I understand that there is a 'shutdown' command written into the admin interface. Admin interface is basically a telnet session to port 4555. There was actually a recent thread to this list about stopping James. Check the archives.
