Thanks to Noel`s help (and his Assembly.xml file !) I was able to disable
the news function. One of my my plans was to intergrate the excellent SMTP
handling of James with and IMAP server (University of Washington`s) so I can
use squirrel mail. I can send but uw Imap server seems to be unable to
properly find incoming mail. I`m thinking about linking the james mailboxes
to the individual users mailboxes in their home directories as a work
around, will keep you post on progress. The TLS setup has me stumped. Every
time I try to uncomment the TLS in the bootom socket blocks of config.xml I
get errors related to keystore not being present. Is it necessary to disable
the plain socket entry. and Do I rename the Avalon TestKey to keystore ? Or
just edit the config file to point to the AvalonTestKey ?
I have to add , James is by far my favorite mail server and I`ve tried
them all. The SMTP_AUTH alone has made my job way easier. For those of you
into torture try building Sendmail w/ SMTP_AUTH.
One more Question. In the Config.xml I can set the localhosts to accept
mail for a domain correct ? Currently I have a backup server recieving mail
as [EMAIL PROTECTED] , but the localhost setting will allow me to receive
mail as [EMAIL PROTECTED], correct ? Sorry I haven`t tested it yet but I can`t
take down my primary mail server yet to test the settings . (Mybe tonight
while everyone is sleeping !)
Anyone know a good webmail interface for POP ? webmail/java is kinda
weird and poorly documented, I guess it`s time to write my own servlet for
james.
I would also like to volunteer to document all these issues as soon as I
have clear answers, after using Sendmail for years I`m seriously tired of m4
config files and love the xml.
For anyone wondering, I`m running James on FreeBSD with the Native build
JDK1.3.1 p7 and the OpenJIT JIT,
and my mail delievery is just as fast as with sendmail.
