That's an excellent question.  I've seen a lot of people on this list
implementing James with a DB backend and I've been asking myself if there
was any advantage to it.  I haven't been able to think of one and I see
maintaining another application as a rather large drawback.  I don't even
have the time to regularly check James to make sure it's still running or
try and figure out why the messages aren't being removed from the inboxes
even though I don't have express set to leave messages on the server.

I would love to hear some opinions on the pros and cons.
