Outlook Express 5.5+ will use STARTTLS if you :- - specify SSL in the client - use Port 25 to connect - You advertise STARTTLS as one of the server capabilities
if you start your server on a different port, e.g 465, then Outlook Express will start the SSL Session at startup. The Netscape7 Mail Client seems to do the same, although I wasn't able to confirm it I'm no great advocate either way, but I think STARTTLS will become the defacto way of using SSL over SMTP Cheers Dave > -----Original Message----- > From: Harmeet Bedi [mailto:harmeet@;kodemuse.com] > Sent: Tuesday, October 22, 2002 5:51 AM > To: James Users List; [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: Re: STARTTLS support in the James Server > > > From: "David Carey" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > > which is what most Email Clients will use for TLS connections. > > Hey David, > > Do you know of some clients that support STARTTLS.
