Avalon v. Tomcat: and Other Dumb Assumptions

James does not work with Tomcat? If this is a stupid question, cuff me. I have looked in the Avalon "handbook" and it does not mention tcp/ip, etc. What sort of "server" is Avalon? I must be out to lunch here.
