Isil,
If you have been able to set up James correctly to receive emails from
outside world and send emails out from James, then the configuration is more of
Jetspeed issue. I have been able to succesfully setup jetspeed, tomcat and use
James as the mail server.
To setup Jetspped to send emails upon creating new users, look at
JetspeedResources.properties in <tomcat-home>/webapps/jetspeed/WEB-INF/conf
after you have deployed jetspeed war file to tomcat. In this file look for
settings related to 'mail.server' and 'newuser.confirm.enable'. You need to
mention right mail.server entry and enable confirmation emails to users at
registration.
