In my attempt to see if James is suitable for a basic mail forwarding
agent (in loose terms), I have run into nothing but problems in getting
just the simplest configurations running. It appears the docs on the
James site are (1) horribly outdated and (2) horribly written (big
gaping holes in what should be explained to someone who has absolutely
ZERO experience with James). I ignored most of this and pressed on, but
still cannot get my forwarding agent to work. So I thought I would try
a very simple mail server.

Going without any directions except for (Once you have some local users
registered-taken from the main site), I tried to create a simple server
with one user: tom.

Could someone please tell me what is needed (specifics, not just --- go
download the binary and run it). It seems there are specific XML
configuration entries that must be made in order for the server to work,
because I can't get a simple email message sent from my local machine
(to my local machine).

Thanks, I really don't want to give up on James and move to something
like sendmail, I like the idea of James and Java, but it's proving to be
very complicated.

Thanks,

Tom
