If your definition of uniqueness is based upon the message content, and it
cannot ever be the case that the same content is legitimately reproduced,
you could construct a mailet that added an MD5 hash header, e.g., X-MD5:
[....] to the mail message. You would have to decide if the message body
was sufficient, or if there were headers unrelated to the specific delivery
that needed to be included.
If you use db or dbfile protocol, your spool should be entirely reliable.
