Good suggestion Noel, I tried a different route & loaded another mail server.
With this other mail server, I've got no problems sending or receiving mail locally & remotely. Guess I'm back to the James configuration issues ;^( As suggested, I will try putting the server outside the firewall over the next couple of days. As I'm not giving up on James quite yet....
