I'm not sure how to view that report output.. A .jrxml would be more useful for me.  But I just wanted to check whether you're doing these things:

include this attribute on all of your textField elements:
isBlankWhenNull="true"

include this attribute on your reportElement elements:
isRemoveLineWhenBlank="true"

This may not be relevant to your problem, because you're talking about subreports, but I wanted to send this just in case.
