It isn't necessary; my mistake. I was thinking mod_jserv (the C side of
things) would want to read the jserv.properties file, but looking at the
source it is pretty obvious that it never looks in the jserv.properties
file if manual mode is enabled. So you can (actually need to) do away with
the ApJServProperties directive. You can probably also do away with the
ApJServDefaultPort directive, though I'm too timid to mess with my current
working installation to test this. But you still need the rest of the mess
from my post to set things up since each user will need their own
jserv.properties file for their private JVM.
