Crisis solved.
I looked throught the old archives and found ~1/15/99 a series of
posts in which another user was hit by the socket exception bug.
After suffering like any other bloke who is new to this, i FINALLY got
the jserv beast to run on win95... so far. the status page, when it
sprang up, seemed like a golden ray of light from the Promised Land.
I was thinking, since the Apache Java project is a volunteer project,
has any one considered a section of docs for SPECIFIC platform
problems? I did, yes, find all my answers but all of the problems had
solutions spread out between 3 months of list archives.
It seems that between solaris 2.6/2.7, Linux, and Win95/NT, there are
specific and easily fixed items. I know that in my case it would save
the other folks a lot of time answering the SAME questions over and
over. Nothing int he FAQ/FAQ-O-Matic seemed to address the sort of
things I was looking for. Just an idea.
