Thanks, Adam...unfortunately that doen't appear to be the difficulty...when I
change the port, I still get the failure...

However, here's the contents of my jserv.log, if that clarifies anything...

22/04/1999 15:39:43:540 EDT] JServ is starting...
[22/04/1999 15:39:43:540 EDT] WARNING: connection authentication is disabled
[22/04/1999 15:39:43:710 EDT] Connection allowed from 127.0.0.1/127.0.0.1
[22/04/1999 15:39:43:710 EDT] Listening on port 8007 accepting 50 maximum
connections

Now, from the mod_jserv.log:

[22/04/1999 19:39:40:570] (INFO) wrapper: Shutdown done (PID=-904109)
[22/04/1999 19:39:40:570] (INFO) Apache Module was cleaned-up
[22/04/1999 19:39:41:010] (INFO) wrapper: Java Virtual Machine started
(PID=-852977)
[22/04/1999 19:39:41:180] (INFO) wrapper: controller started (PID=-904109)
[22/04/1999 19:39:43:810] (INFO) wrapper: Java Virtual Machine crashed
...[etc.]...

(note that the timestamps do seem to that the JVM crashes right after it tries
to listen on the port)
