I would like to add that building it on Linux has become much much easier.
My old howto is rapidly being rendered obsolete (a much improved document
will eventually be ready). I did a test clean install of apache 1.3.6 and
then of apache jserv 1.0b4 and, after including the example jserv.conf file
in httpd.conf it worked perfectly. Even the error messages are getting
better: I experimented with "stupid novice tricks", like making the
directory containing the jar file unreadable and got an error message that
the directory was unreadable, which is a far cry from the older less
specific messages.
