I have nearly the same problems.
Following is standing in the error_log:

"gein-jserv-status" not found for: /servlets/HelloWorldServlet
[Tue May 25 15:26:21 1999] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] File does not
exist: /servlets/HelloWorldServlet
Any ideas?
