I'm sorry, but this URL tells me that these claims were posted on 
4/23/99, which is a full 3 months _BEFORE_ Mindcraft re-ran their 
benchmark, with the Red Hat guys there.  

The info I posted had to do with the re-run of the Mindcraft tests,
after the Red Hat community complained.  NT still significantly 
outperformed Linux. 

This should not be a religious war.  I thought most people were interested 
in the performance of a JVM on a given platform, whether the maker of the 
OS is Microsloth or Green Hat, it shouldn't matter.  We should be interested
in numbers, not labels.

Also, as for the study being paid for by Microsoft, I believe you are 
right.  But, if you had a faster OS, wouldn't you sponsor a benchmark, too?
Should they just wait around for the benchmark angel to fly by or what?
Do we have to immediately assume it's an Oliver Stone movie?
