Ok, so now I am impressed ;)  

To be fair, the cited benchmark did not run Blackdown 1.1.7 with any
JIT: Using the very latest TYA 1.5, IBM is _only_ 3x faster ;)

This is, of course, comparing the apples of IBM native threads with
the oranges of blackdown greens on a one-CPU Pentium II, and only for
a simple Sieve test run over 10 seconds, so it doesn't say much;
running a complex application like TogetherJ or ArgoUML, I don't
notice much difference, but haven't played with it enough to say.
