I wouldn't be too worried about Mindcraft slanting the results this time.
This test was not nearly as controversial as the NT/Windows one.
All of the configuration data is in the report. Are there any obvious
misconfigurations of JServ?
I believe iPlanet (Netscape Enterprise) is a multithreaded server which is
architecturally faster than forked Apache. In the 2.0 release Apache will
support multithreading. Another architectural difference is linking the JVM
to the server instead of using a socket for communications.
Given these differences I would expect iPlanet to be faster. There may be
other reasons for the speed differential, threading bottle necks, mod_jerv
overhead, etc. I don't know the correct answer.
The question is, what is JServ going to do about it?
