Hi,

I've given up with my perl HTTP client scripts and tested my servlets with
JMeter, from an other box on the LAN. I've also installed OptimizeIt Demo
(great software, I think we'll purchase it) and ran the JVM from within.

I started JServ and tested my JDBC servlet with JMeter during about 18 hours
/ 170,000 requests / no problem: no leak, no excessive memory allocation, ...

The differences between the two sets of tests are:
A: JVM / JServ started by a shell script
* JVM (JDK 1.2.2 RC3 from blackdown) in native threads mode
* HTTP client perl scripts doing the torture-testing on the same box
* Xmax heap limit

B: JVM / JServ started from OptimizeIt (with several types of auditing
options...)
* JVM (JDK 1.2.2 RC3 from blackdown) in green threads mode
* JMeter doing the torture-testing on another box
* no Xmax heap limit

My third test will look like this:

C: JVM / JServ started by a service shell script (forking,...)
* JVM (JDK 1.2.2 RC3 from blackdown) in green threads mode
* JMeter doing the torture-testing on another box
* no Xmax heap limit

I'm using jdbc:oracle:thin driver from Oracle 8i for Linux (classes111.zip)
and the "gnu.regex" package from http://www.gnu.org/software/java/

Thank you for posting that very usefull information.
I've not tried it yet, but I keep it in a safe place!

OptimizeIt / OptimiZeit ...
