oh dear. oh dear, oh dear. i had just independently come to the same
conclusion, and immediately thought "jeez, tell me i didn't mail that message to
the list yet!"
[sigh] o well, as a total newbie here i had no credibility to destroy anyway...or
perhaps i just earned "negative cred" points.
