I don't think you have the right download, Robert. Personally, I don't like
the way Sun has structured the download page -- it is extremely confusing.
Check the size of the downloaded file ... if it is about 1MB, what you have
is the "installer", not the actual binary. I don't think the installer works
on Suse or any Linux. You need to download the complete file which should be
in tar or zip format. I kind of gave up on Sun after poking around for the
actual download. I'm using IBM's JDK 1.3 instead now -- but you may have to
upgrade your glibc version in order to use it.
