Subject: SSL using Apache on Win environment (or encryption)

from what I've read apache does not provide modules for SSL on windows.
(something along the lines of winxx has undocumented 'security' features,
making it pointless implementing SSL)
I'm using apache/jserv on an intranet development, (sigh would prefer to be
on *nix, even have the tux sitting on my PC but anyways) and thinking of
using an applet:socket:servlet with encrypting to establish logins.
Is this the best way? Is there any encryption code out there I should be
using as a starting point??
Mat
