What platform are you on? Unix, windows????

It sounds like you're on a Unix machine and you're running the Jserv engine 
as a user that can't access the files you're trying to get at.

Please provide more specifics. Namely, your OS, what user you're running 
the Jserv engine as, who owns the files you're trying to access and what 
directories these files are in (full path helps)...
