Projects under lucene.apache.org are official ASF subprojects of
Lucene. As gdata-server stands now, it is a contrib package of
java-lucene, not a sub-project (changing that would require the Lucene
PMC, and maybe the ASF Incubator).
Things under contrib have entries here:
http://lucene.apache.org/java/docs/lucene-sandbox/
Fine, so I can add the gdata server to the sandbox html file or is
that generated somewhere?

The normal method for things in Lucene's contrib area is to be
versioned and distributed along with the rest of Lucene.
So that means the whole directory will be available via the source
dist and the war will be included in the binary dist.
E.g. with the next tag / release the server will be inside the dist package.
I did talk about what happens to the gdata-server with Ian Holsman
already, he said that there might be some other guy work on it (which
would be nice) and that you getting me commiting on gdata as well. I
would like to set up a road map and thing should be done in the future
as well. Did you think about that at all?
