In general, 3.0 gives us no extra in regards to back compat freedom. All it
gives is the opportunity to remove all the deprecated stuff. So generally, if
you can't do it through deprecation, you can't do it. Except that exceptions
for certain complicated/beneficial issues have been made I think (ie Field has
slightly loosened requirements) with proper notification and minimal impact.
That probably comes down to the size of the jolt to the community.
