For me it is strange, that getMethod() does not work for protected methods,
because they can be inherited. That it does not work for private methods is
clear, because they are only known to the class itsself (you cannot even
override a private methods). But the JDK defines it in that way and we must
life with it :-(
I would stop the iteration when getSuperclass() returns null and then return
null (which cannot happen, as the method is defined at least in CharTokenizer,
you wrote this in the comment).
