Hi Gaurav,

For AJAX you can easily find multiple resource on net. JavaPassion itself has a
AJAX course. I am sure the slides will really be helpful to understand AJAX.
You can have a look at even this for basics:
http://www.w3schools.com/Ajax/Default.Asp

Once you understand the AJAX, I would suggest you better use any of the
available open sourced AJAX based framework. you can choose any from:
Dojo : http://www.dojotoolkit.org/
jMaki: https://ajax.dev.java.net/
extJS: http://extjs.com/

They already have built-in widgets. They all contain tutorials also on how to
use them.

Thanks,
-Pravin

Hi Swati,

Sorry for incomplete mail. An accidental click on send caused this. What I
wanted to suggest that you create any web based project:

May be a Online Pet Store. Or Online Taxi Booking.

But my advice would be to use as many different technologies as you can. For
example:

You can :

.. Use Struts(which is an MVC framework) of even JSF.

.. Use AJAX based dojo framework on client side.

.. Use JavaMail API for sending some info to user like password recovery

.. Use smpp/http based SMS for sending some info to user.

.. Must use some IDE. I would recomment Netbeans.

.. Use a database(If a small project, you can try JAVADB). If comes prebundled
in JDK 1.6.

or if you have installed Glassfish. It can be handled directly from Netbeans.

.. Alternatively If you can go for some open source LDAP based Directory
Server. I recommend OpenDS.

All depends upon your strength and willingness to work hard

ps: I am not exposed to Spring/EJB/Hibernate so I would not be able to suggest
on that.

Thanks,

-Pravin
