basically JTextField is an swing component . You need to do as given e.g JTextField txt1 = new JTextField(); txt1.setText("25"); String txtstr = txt1.getText(); int txtint = Integer.parseInt(txtstr); now you can perform any arithmetic operation with txtint . with best wishes....
