Title: *Part Time - UDB/AIX DB2 DBA* - Will need to work about 40 hours a week on site for the first 2 - 3 weeks to get settled, then support will be provided remotely for approximately 20 hours a week, along with on-call support 24/7 as needed. Location: *Irvine**,CA* *3 Month + Contract* Rate: $40/hr on C2C ** *Responsibilities*: Performing DB2 database administration activities including monitoring, database management, space management, system and application performance tuning, SQL coding/performance tuning, database backup and recovery, reorg, disaster recovery, data replication, and database refresh. Monitoring database resource utilization (disk, memory, CPU) for tuning opportunities and pro-active maintenance Troubleshooting database issues (error situations, performance problems) Monitoring database growth, providing capacity planning information to determine the need for expansion of physical storage. Assisting application developers with database-related technical information Managing database security management Work with database management software to organize and store data for peak performance and system resource utilization Defining and implementing appropriate utilities to monitor database functions and activity Building and maintaining scripts to effect database utility functions (e.g. backup, restore, load, health check, etc.) Implementing automated notification via email and/or cell phone when conditions require immediate attention Provide scripts to simplify recurring activities Application support including problem analysis and resolution, data modeling, and SQL tuning Providing support for application team database refreshes (e.g. managing copies of database images for testing) Assisting in data extraction and downloading to Excel or Access database for data analysis Interact with business users, application teams, and infrastructure groups.
