Tasks that are performed include working across organization lines such as NP&E, FNP ( Fundamental Network Planning), NOC ( Network Operations Center), * NIPRC* ( National IP Resource Center) to perform client's *IS POP* layout designs and build out, managing EF&I ( Engineer, Furnish & Install) vender work to ensure TP standards are adhered to, the addition and removal of network elements, environmental conditions and monitoring, and to maintain the overall everyday functions of a client's IS POP. Maintains the training of LST ( Local Support Tech) remote hands personnel so that a high level of readiness is maintained at all times. Evaluates, selects, and applies procedures regarding preventive maintenance, adding network devices, circuit testing and troubleshooting, remote monitoring of critical POP systems, quality assurance, and all other activities regarding the overall operations of the client's IS facility. A moderate level of expertise in circuit design, *SONET, Layer 1 protocols*, and a good familiarization with testing tools to test circuits from *T1 to OC-192* is required. Strong understanding of transport media and their properties such as coax, fiber optic cable, and Ethernet. Implement common systems engineering such as client's IS POP environment capacities and power utilization to ensure growth can be accomplished in a timely manner per company projections and analysis from other client's IS organizations. Will be responsible for writing and maintaining detailed equipment inventories, detailed POP diagrams, circuit ingress and egress, and preventive maintenance methods and procedures to be followed to ensure the safety of both the POP and the individual. Tasks performed by the group are considered to be complex by company standards. Self motivation is a required trait due to the individuals remote location at times; one must set goals and be able to conduct day to day business without supervision. Emergency callouts, overnight and occasional extended travel is required to support multiple clients' IS POP. The manager will usually work alone, report to a second level manager and have overall responsibility for their POP. 3 or more years operations experience. Hands on, practical experience with logical and physical troubleshooting of data networks, electronics, power systems or general building support (HVAC etc). Ability to work independently and develop methods, techniques and processes for POP management and maintenance. Needs a strong understanding of capital and expense labor in order to properly document time. Exercises independent judgment in developing methods, techniques & evaluation. *BS in Telecommunications*, Central Office Equipment Engineering & installation experience, Strong knowledge of *TP76400, TP76300* installation standards, Loop electronics experience. Practical experience with Installation Standards for Telecom/Cable or similar. - BS Data communications or in a related technical field. - Vocational technical certificates for power, digital transport, CO Construction, Telco common systems, Telco standards, CAD etc. **** This position includes travel to other cities; approximately 4 hour driving radius.
