Job Title: Object Oriented Developer Location: locations in the USA, including Salt Lake City, UT, St. Petersburg, FL and San Diego, CA. Some openings may be performed from other locations. Duration: 1 Year This position requires the ability to obtain an ADP II Clearance which requires US Citizenship or Green Card. The services to be provided by SAIC are related to the Health Data Systems (HDS) Repository program. The HDS primary purpose is to enhance the VA’s ability to provide care by providing a national or total view of a patient’s medical and administrative record regardless of where he/she has been treated. To accomplish this, the Health Data Repository (HDR) and the Administrative Data Repository (ADR) projects, which are part of the HDS program, are seeking services to help in the development, expansion, enhancement, and implementation of existing and new functionality. The scope of SAIC VistA Repositories services will be performed in several locations in the USA, including Salt Lake City, UT, St. Petersburg, FL and San Diego, CA. Some openings may be performed from other locations. JOB DESCRIPTION/SCOPE: The candidate will be a member of a team dedicated to the development and use of a large historical data repository (HDR) and a large administrative data repository (ADR). HDR will serve as the authoritative data store for clinical data from all VistA sites. Healthcare providers will use it to facilitate longitudinal patient-centric care, storing patient-centric clinical data in a computable format that can be used by other applications for analytical purposes. HDR will: Serve as a primary source for patients’ legal medical records Enable generation of clinical reports based on the entire clinicalu holdings of the VA Serve as a platform for new and reengineered HeV applications Serve as a platform for patient self-access to medical records Support standardization among DoD and other government and privateu industry clinical databases through the creation of a standards-based database. ADR is envisioned as an enterprise-level transactional database that forms the core of several VA administrative and policy-related applications, such as: identity management, data quality, demographics, and eligibility and enrollment for all enumerated persons. Scope: ADR will provide an authoritative data store for shared administrative, demographic, and eligibility information. ADR/HDR DMI will transform and load legacy and partial MPI data into ADR. The candidate will be responsible for the provision of Object Oriented design and coding services in support of projects within the HeV environment in a manner consistent with VHA business, health care and software development practices. The candidate will provide HeV Application Server and client design and coding support to the covered projects in HeV so that IT support for ongoing health care operations is provided without interruption. The candidate will be responsible for all software design, coding and documentation activities associated with the work they undertake, taking care to mitigate foreseeable risks and avoid any potential interference with the application modernization process that will be taking place simultaneously. The candidate may: Be involved in analyses and the investigation of related applications engineering tasks and prepares design specifications, analysis, and recommendations. Ensure the compliance of customer standards; also ensures that contractual deliverables assigned are reviewed for completeness and completed on time. Works closely with other teams, support organizations, program and product management. Interact with senior management and other engineers. Interaction normally involves matters between functional and technical areas. REQUIRED EDUCATION/SKILLS: Bachelor's degree and 8 years of IT experience and 4+ years of object oriented development experience supporting projects such as VistA in the VA environment. Experience developing systems in an Eclipse environment, working with Hibernate to provide data persistence, Oracle 10g database, Oracle Web Logic mid-tiers, and Intersystems Caché environments. Proven experience in developing and supporting large SOA initiatives that are similar in scope and complexity to the VA’s HealtheVet-VistA initiative. Candidate also MUST meet eligibility requirements for obtaining US ADP2 security clearance. Requires experience with: J2EE v5 and J2SE v6 Oracle Web Logic and Oracle (preferably 10g and 11g) Web Services (SOAP / REST) Spring Framework & Dependency Injection XML Object Oriented Analysis and Design Agile Methodologies Test Driven Development DESIRED SKILLS: Understanding or experience of software development and integration processes in environments including CMMi/SEI methodologies. Strong Java/API and messaging background; experience with Hibernate 3.X; Eclipse 3; XMLSPY; TOAD; Spring Framework; JTA/XA transaction APIs; HL7; Caché. Experience with developing clinical applications. Experience with Primavera TeamPlay, VistA and/or CHCS environments. Knowledge of medical informatics. Knowledge of service oriented architectures (SOA).
