*Technical skills and/or domain knowledge:*

Diverse IT knowledge so that they can advise and/or ensure the application
is scalable, reliable, available and manageable.  They will need to be able
to play a duel role as data modeler/architect.



They will need to formulate the deployment strategy for the application and
keep an eye out for technological risks that could jeopardize the
application(s).





*KEY POINTS AND MUST HAVES:*

*1.  Able to perform Data Modeling activities.*

*2.  Expert level of PowerCenter, Vitria, J2EE, GIS, Oracle DB with Actuate
as a plus. *



* This more of a data architect but the position is an application architect
as well.  They must know all of the technologies to put everything
together.  Must know a good amount about a lot of different technologies.  *

*They will need to be able to validate the integrity of the database.  ***

*Must be able to monitor the infrastructure when the environment changes.  *

*They won't need to develop PowerCenter (or any of the other technologies
for that matter) but must be able to direct the PowerCenter developer(s).
That PowerCenter developer is the other position we are working on for this
project.  ***

*They need to be able to guide LFG as far as the different technologies they
should use in different situations.  Should they use J2EE, should they use
Vitria, etc.  They need to have strong knowledge of these technologies but
they won't have to code. ** *



*Position Description*



The *Application Architect *will be responsible for assisting in the
translation of the client vision, strategies, values and customer
expectations into specific IT application development actions and
activities. The Application Architect will provide expertise in areas all of
application development including Financial Services industry trends and
best practices, overall system design and project planning and estimation. *
*
  Responsibilities

1.        *Provides direction and technical leadership *working with
business and IT partners in the design and deployment of technology
solutions to meet complex business needs.

2.        *Provides *technical leadership to internal application
development teams in the planning and technical design associated with
application development activities.

3.        *Works with* and educates IT and business partners in the use of
Lincoln's architectural standards and best practices.

4.        *Possesses* a keen understanding how the business operates and how
IT works with the business to accomplish initiatives.

5.        *Acts* as a consultant to business and IT management in the
discovery and evaluation of third party technology solutions.

6.        *Aggressively* maintains an expert knowledge in the use and
application of a broad range of relevant technology tools and disciplines.
Willingly shares knowledge and uses technology as a strategic business
advantage.

7.        *Demonstrates* mastery in applying systems delivery methodologies
and best practices.

8.        *Understands *broad implications and financial impacts of proposed
solutions on operational and infrastructure support. Exercises sound
judgment and involves stakeholders in decision-making.

9.        *Adept at understanding* complex business/technical problems and
opportunities and identifying potential application solutions. Can
conceptualize complex systems solutions typically before full details are
known.

10.     *Leads *the development of business case and cost benefit analysis
for complex level business technology initiatives.

   1. *Provides* input to yearly planning process and provides regular
   status reporting to upper management on large-scale efforts.


Requirements

   - 8+ years IT experience in the Insurance/Financial Services industry.
   - Strong academic background (college degree preferred).
   - Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, facilitation and
   interpersonal skills.
   - Strong knowledge of Insurance/Financial Services operational areas such
   as customer service, product development, new business/underwriting and
   producer solutions is essential
   - Proven track record in designing and deploying technology solutions in
   support of  business needs.
   - Broad range of technical skills are required including the following:
   MS Office, Project, Visio, HTML, XML. J2EE tools, Mainframe development
   tools and RDBMS.
