Title : Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse Project Manager** Location : greater Boston, ma Duration : 3+ month ** *Role and Responsibilities* Project Management Ø Lead discussions with business regarding their solution needs. Provide direction and options for solutions. Ø Lead design sessions with technical team (and key business user on an as needed basis). Translate business need into workable solution with options. Review options and select right one based on long term vision. Ø Confirm chosen solution with business, point out any risk areas or areas that may not fit need exactly and work with the business to refine solution and "meet in the middle." Ø Work with technical team to set work effort, resources needed and timelines for delivery. Ø Manage project scope, deliverables and resources. Ø Periodic reviews of the solution during development phase. Available to technical team to answer questions that arise regarding solution. Ø Ensure the carrying out of sufficient IT testing prior to user release. Review testing completed and approve UAT to begin Ø Delegate creation of User Acceptance Testing script as per standard document and per key areas needed. Ø Follow up with users to ensure UAT is being done. Review UAT issues list, ensure bugs and key issues are resolved and retested, and push back to users on large scale enhancements if they can't be fit in before go-live. Ø Review go-live plan and steps and impact. Ensure successful go-live and provide adequate post production support. Ø Ensure projects are delivered to scope, timeline and budget. Ø Manage projects to company standards. Create project documentation, carry out kick-off and readiness assessment meetings. Systems Management Ø Complex problem solving of BI and DW issues. Understanding of end to end system to follow data trail from source system, through SQL Server and Oracle databases, through ETL tools and through BI semantic layer to BI front ends. Ø Ensure successful completion of the data and BI refreshes and data deliveries to Hyperion Ø Deep understanding of capabilities of BI front end tools to direct proper strategy for content development to ensure usability and flexibility of reports. Ø Implement system standards, guidelines, policies and procedures Ø Is current in BI and DW field for new techniques and functionality as they pertain to solutions Ø Manage the development of data marts, automations, ETL streams, BI semantic layer and objects Other Key Skills and Competencies Ø Oracle Business Intelligence Ø Cognos Business Intelligence Ø SQL Server and Oracle Database Ø Informatica ETL Ø Ralph Kimball Star Schema Relational Database Concepts Ø Dimensional Modeling Ø Database tuning strategies (partitioning, indexing, aggregate and reporting tables) Ø BI Semantic layer Ø Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint Ø Batch Script and command prompt automation Ø Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills Ø Good organizational skills, works with minimal direction and thrives in team environment Ø Successfully prioritizes and completes tasks in order of importance.
