*Job Description:*

 Computer Deployment Technician will be part of a team responsible for
receiving, configuring and deploying approximately forty to eighty new
computers per week and removing and decommissioning the old systems that are
replaced by these new systems. Computers are deployed directly to individual
faculty and staff offices. The goal of the program is to replace the user's
existing computer and to do so quickly, efficiently, and thoroughly.  We
want the user to have a positive experience, have as little down time as
possible, and be left with a new computer that has all of the customizations
their previous computer had.



Primary duties will include:

   Delivery and setup of new computers and deactivation and removal of old
computers as outlined by the client's deployment process.

   When necessary perform data transfer for desk-side replacements using
such technologies as easy transfer wizard.

   Install and configure designated peripherals such as label makers,
personal printers, scanners etc. as needed.

   Install and configure department specific software as needed.

   Assist with post deployment process including database updates, data
storage, data removal from de-acquisitioned systems, storage of hardware and
vendor pickup.

   Assist with data restores upon request.

   Track all activities either in the asset management database solution or
in the University help request ticketing system (HP Service Center).

   Function as part of the computer support team contributing to team
discussions and process improvement initiatives.

   As needed, provide answers and information to users about the process
and/or their new computer.



* Experience:*

1-3 years experience necessary directly supporting customers in a broad
range of computing and communications technologies with strong analytical
skills and creative approach to problem solving. Must be able to lift 30
lbs.



The candidate must have excellent verbal and interpersonal skills.



The candidate should be a responsible and dependable person with exemplary
customer service skills and desire to help all levels of users. The
candidate should conduct his/her self in a professional manner at all times.



Advanced skills in multitasking, organization and time management are
essential.



The candidate should have demonstrated experience in using, installing and
troubleshooting:

o    Mac OS X (Tiger and Leopard)

o    Windows XP Professional and Vista Enterprise

o    MS Office 2003 Professional and 2007 Enterprise

o    Thunderbird

o    PDA's, (Blackberry's, Treos, Windows Mobile Devices)

o    Networked and local printers and multifunctional devices



Demonstrated ability to configure and troubleshoot network and printer
issues required.



Experience with any of the following is highly desirable:

   Active Directory

   Altiris Client Management Suite

   Microsoft User State Migration Tool (USMT)

   Oracle Connector for Outlook

   Dreamweaver

   FileMaker Pro

   PeopleSoft IT Asset Management

   HP Service Center or another trouble ticketing system (Remedy, Heat,
etc)



Understanding of computer security best practices for protecting user
information and data.



High school diploma required.  College degree preferred.
