Our client, utilizes Multiple Virtual Storage (MVS) mainframe database systems for the processing of tax information. The primary database system currently contains sales and use tax and special taxes information. The system was developed using Object Oriented principles and concepts, utilizing the NATURAL programming language and storing information within an ADABAS Database Management System. Generally, screen interface logic is separate from data access and business rule logic and processing is done using common and reusable components. The E-Services environment was developed using Object Oriented principles and concepts, utilizing the Java programming language. Taxpayer entered data is stored within an XML Database Management System located on a dedicated secured Tamino server. Screen interface logic is separate from data access. Business rule logic and processing is done using common and reusable components. Generally, all business rules are retrieved from IRIS. The BOE is in the process of implementing the XML RPC Server to facilitate the transmission of XML data to the mainframe. Since XML is widely used as the means of data transfer in existing applications, using the XML RPC Server will reduce the processing needed to transmit the data to the mainframe. For this project, the Programmer Analysts (Adabas/Natural) will be used to either make the necessary modifications needed to develop new functionalities in the existing mid-tier and mainframe applications that support E-filing and the mainframe functions supporting IRIS, or to perform miscellaneous maintenance and application development activities on IRIS and related systems. All technical roles, including system maintenance, require the advanced skillsets referenced above. Contractor* Key Tasks and Responsibilities* Provide technical expertise in the following areas: · Facilitate and/or participate in Joint Application Development (JAD) Sessions. · Develop and update Requirements. · Develop and update Construction Design Specifications. · Develop and maintain Natural Objects. · Build and maintain Unit Test Plans. · Execute Unit Test Plans. · Build and maintain Integration Test Plans. · Build, maintain and/or review System Test Plans. · Execute Integration Test Plans. · Fix program problems. · Perform maintenance of current IRIS modules. a.* **Required Skills**:* 1. Understanding of Object Oriented Design principles and methodologies. *2. Minimum of five (5) years experience with Adabas/Natural programming in a mainframe/CICS environment.* 3.* **Minimum of two (2) years experience with developing systems using Natural Construct.* 4. Demonstrated experience with JCL. 5. Formal testing experience. 6. Strong documentation and written communication skills. 7. Familiarity with full suite of Microsoft Office tools. 8. Ability to work with both business and technical staff in a team environment. b.* **Desired Skills:* 1. Familiarity with Board of Equalization's Integrated Revenue Information System (IRIS). 2. Familiarity with BOE's Application Life Cycle (ALC) methodology. 3. Familiarity with IEEE standard documentation. 4. Familiarity with large-scale taxation systems. 5.
