Must be intimately familiar with Data Manager and Oracle 10g *Mentoring.* Plan is to transition to client resource before / during project completion CRON job creation, Unix job scheduling with scripting knowledge (Perl and/or shell), experience with Oracle backup/restore best practices with regards to DW and CDC tables, Data Manager logging and error processing best practices *OS:* Sun Solaris (Unix) *DB:* Oracle 10g *Application Server:* Tomcat? *Number of Servers:* 1 (10 CPUs) Client needs an ad-hoc environment for their users as well as migrating some standard reports from their BO ODS system. They are building a data warehouse for their TMS (Transportation Management System) that is highly normalized and very large, which will replace the attempt at delivering BI capabilities with an ODS. For this phase, Client will create a *Data Mart* for a portion of the analytics needs of the overall DW effort, which will cover the remaining portion of the Execution Performance subject area, and other subject areas as time permits. The role is to develop the Cognos 8 Data Manager solution to populate 2 subject area portions of the EP data mart for Phase 1. Additional data marts will be developed as time permits. The solution needs to consider the high volume of data and fast reporting response time required, while minimally impacting the source OLTP system. The DM resource needs to be skilled in handling complex ETL rules covering many tables, including alternate population logic, one-time historic data loading (300M row tables), and ongoing Change Data Capture (CDC) techniques to enable 15 minute load cycles. DM resource must be very comfortable working with the client DBA on load and query performance strategies in Oracle in order to meet system load and query SLAs Consultant will be lead developer of solution, but there will need to be mentoring and knowledge transfer to client team so they can support/enhance following this project.
