I do think the problem is already solved.  We got a bug report[1] (PR
libc/667) from Christopher Seawood entitled "glibc fails to return
correct hostname if host is listed in /etc/hosts".  The problem was a
bug in the user program and not in glibc.

If PR libc/667 and this bug are different, I'd like to see a real bug
report.
