I recently just got 3.5 SLACKWARE and now can't run seemingly any

James,
http://www.blackdown.org/java-linux/docs/faq/FAQ-java-linux-5.html#ss5.1
discusses this:
In JDK versions 1.1.5 through 1.1.6v2 we've seen a problem with
libc.so and ld.so shipped with the JDK in
$JAVA_HOME/lib/i386/green_threads conflicting with the system. Try
removing these and then running Java.
I don't run Slackware, nor do I have ld.so-1.9.9 to test, so "your
fuel efficiency may vary."
