I know this may not be the best place but hopefully some one has had this
problem.

I just installed jdk-1.1.5-7 and to do this I upgraded my glibc
to glibc-2.0.7-13.i386.rpm. and then installed which is fine.
I test it out it works.

now for the problem when I use ppp. my only means of connecting name
resolution seems to be hosed if I ping <hostname> it hangs but ping <ip>
it comes right back. to make it worse if I nslookup <hostname> that comes
right back but anything else won't resolve. it does eventually resolve it
after about 60 seconds or so. My guess is that something on my machine
isn't passing the request on wright away its trying to resolve it itself.

And for the life of me I can't figure out what I need do to fix. I did
verify that going back to the glibc that comes with redhat5.0 corrects
that problem. I'm sure I just need another rpm but I don't know what it
is.

thanks,
brad
