This is just me being a wuss, but... I tolerate using Sun's Java Workshop
2.0. When I was developing on WinNT and Solaris 2.6 (Intel), I liked having
some degree of conformity in my development environments. It's also fairly
easy to manage big projects with JWS. I'm junking Solaris in favor of
Linux, and got Workshop to work thanks to the kind folks at SuSE and their
patch. Depending on your platform, it could be slow, and some of the
features don't work. (The debugger is native, so that's pretty much
useless, and you have to force JWS to use the Linux JDK that's installed on
your box because the fastcompiler is native also. I do that, anyhoo...)
Anyway, for what it's worth.
