CheckVersions Error...

new to Linux, attempting to
install and run the Blackdown
Java..
get a:
/usr/lib.java/jdk116_v5/bin/checkVershions:
{isGreaterOrEqual: command not
found
error...
thats when i try to do a
javac
or
javac -g
on any .java file...
can anyone help me out
