I had the same problems. The best one I found was wipeout
http://www.softwarebuero.de
but it lack Gui builder etc. On the other hand it is very well integratted
with JDB and CVS and it has a very nice smalltalk type  class browser. Plus
a completely customisable help system and syntax hilighting.

The only solution I found was to switch to Windows :-( and use IBM's Visual
Age for Java. This is by far the most advanced IDE on earth today. But there
is hope because there is some discussions to port it to Linux.
