Linux Red Hat ethernet driver

Hi-

Sorry if this is the wrong list, but...

I'm installing Red Hat Linux 5.2 on a Compaq.  The ethernet driver, tlan.o,
for this machine is copied to the file system.  But Red Hat's install
program doesn't list it amongst its drivers from which to select.  I have
the file, but don't know how to "install" it manually.  Its name is tlan.o
and is in the directory with all the other ethernet drivers.

This is probably really easy, but I'm stumped,
