I've uploaded a pre-release version of Java 2 for x86 Linux. It should be
making its way out to the mirrors in the next day or so.

If you have a really good, fast connection to the net, and you're willing to
maybe have to do some environment hacking to get things to work, please check
it out and let us know what you think. It has some known sensitivity to having
specific libraries available, although it should work right away on a recent
Debian pre-2.1 system. The README.linux file is available in the mirror
directories; you can read it before deciding to download.

If you're new to Linux or aren't comfortable with doing things like maybe
setting LD_PRELOAD, then this isn't the release for you, but if you're willing
to invest some time and try it out, we'd aprpeciate hearing your experiences.

Steve
