I am new to Java and not a programmer, but have had some experience in
compiling software.

I downloaded the JDK 1.2 source code from
http://www.sun.com/software/communitysource/ and wish to compile it under
Linux. I assume that it would probably be best to wait until the Linux
version has stabilized, given that the pre-release has only just been
announced.

My main question is whether there is a site from which it will be possible
to download the source code changes required to compile under Linux,
in accordance with the terms of the community source licence?

Given the speed of the network connection that I am using, I do not want
to download a 36 mb binary release, and I also would prefer to compile the
software myself.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Jason.
