Many thanks for the rapid replies everyone (M$ tech. support are still
engaged ;))

For anyone who's interested I'll be running the tests on an AS400 running
DB2, an Apricot P200 thing running WinNT(Access '97 and Paradox) and
PostgreSQL, following two recommendations and an excellent price/performance
ratio ;)
