I apologize in advance if this is a stupid question, but I don't know where
else to turn. I've been working with RH5.x Linux for some time, but have
never worked with Java. I'm currently working with a vendor to port a network
analysis program from *true* Unix to Linux, so at least my intentions are good
:-)
Background: I'm using JRE 1.1.7v3 with RH Linux 5.2. I know my JRE is
functional because I can run some other Java dependent programs (Paradyne's
Performance Wizard is the one I'm using).
Problem: upon execution of a particular file in the installation process:
jre -cp ./classes ./foobar
I am informed that:
Class not found ./foobar
foobar in this case is really a script that installs all kinds of necessary
stuff. There is a subdirectory called classes which contains 8 .jar files and
nothing else. My gut instinct is that the syntax I am being instructed to use
is wrong. The JRE/bin directory is in my path (first entry) and the shell I'm
using is bash. Not sure what else you would want to know.
I've been scouring the blackdown.org site, but all the topics are a bit over
my head. Is there a basic FAQ or instructional on syntax or something that
might point me in the right direction? Any help anyone can provide would be
!!greatly!! appreciated. I'm not a member of the listserv, so please reply
offline. Thanks again.
