J 1.2 Applet wont run in browser

I have been programming in Java 1.1.7 for a while now... and would like to upgrade to 
J1.2. I have been using Linux and Windows and it works great. So far I have not been 
able to run J1.2 applets in any browser on my Windows clients. Can anybody please help 
me to configure my code / browser to accept j1.2 applet.

Sorry I know this is a little of the subject. I try not to do it again.
