And I was just noting how much of a boost the sunwjit seems to give. I
haven't been able to find any free java benchmarks that I am totally
comfortable with. So I've been using CaffeineMark 3.0 running in the
appletviewer and taking the results with a grain of salt. You know what
they say about lies, damned lies, and benchmarks...

But, IIRC, I was getting around 380 in 1.1.7v3 w. TYA, and now I get
around 180 in 1.2pre2 without a JIT and around 900 (!) with sunwjit.
Seems pretty fast to me. The non-I/O-related tests all go up by around
a factor of 10 with the JIT on.

Maybe either your 64 MB of RAM or the dinky 128 kB cache in the Celeron
is becoming a limiting factor? JITs increase memory consumption, don't
they? Maybe someone who knows more can comment.
