Hello, I installed the JDK from ftp://tuiasi.ro/pub/lang/java/jdk/1.2/pre-v2/glibc2.1/jdk-1.2pre_v2-1.i386.rpm set PATH, NS_JAVA=true and THREADS_FLAG=green and tried to test out wether I got the right java version by dilbert:/usr/share # java -version For about 40 seconds nothing happened, but top said: 10:18am up 9 days, 16:53, 4 users, load average: 2.11, 1.60, 1.27 65 processes: 38 sleeping, 4 running, 23 zombie, 0 stopped CPU states: 48.9% user, 51.0% system, 0.0% nice, 0.2% idle Mem: 62852K av, 62232K used, 620K free, 4332K shrd, 2408K buff Swap: 128516K av, 32756K used, 95760K free 1620K cached PID USER PRI NI SIZE RSS SHARE STAT LIB %CPU %MEM TIME COMMAND 1 root 10 0 60 4 0 RW 0 50.1 0.0 3791m init 3227 root 9 0 33052 30M 28 R 0 47.1 50.2 1:13 java 3250 root 4 0 428 380 256 R 0 1.9 0.6 0:02 top which means, that the "java" process growed to over 30 MB (!) while doing effectively nothing. I'm curious what the "init" process was doing in the background... I hope someone can help as the JDK in this state is unusable for me. Thanx, Xuân Baldauf. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
